The Panthers have bolstered their edge rusher position with a new addition.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Carolina has inked K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year contract, valued at up to $5 million.

Originally drafted by the Jaguars at No. 20 overall in 2020, Chaisson’s performance hasn’t quite matched his first-round draft status over his four seasons.

While he started 11 games in his first two seasons, he hasn’t been in the starting lineup since, appearing in a total of 57 games. Throughout his career, he’s secured 5.0 sacks.

Last season, Chaisson tallied 13 tackles, four tackles for loss, eight QB hits, and 2.0 sacks. He saw action on 25 percent of defensive snaps and 25 percent of special teams snaps.

The Panthers have been active in shoring up their pass-rushing unit, also acquiring D.J. Wonnum and exploring a potential deal with Jadeveon Clowney following the departure of Brian Burns.
