The television regulator was asked to review the coverage of the Rangers’ match against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, which took place at the beginning of last month.

Despite a poor away record this season, Rangers comfortably won 3-0 against Ross County, thanks to goals from Hamza Igamane, Danilo, and captain James Tavernier.

After the match, four separate complaints were made to Ofcom, claiming there was sectarian singing from some of the traveling Rangers fans.

However, Ofcom has since decided not to pursue an official investigation. According to their review, the specific words of the chants were not “particularly discernible” to viewers, and therefore, no further action was taken.

This development comes as Rangers prepare to host Aberdeen at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this evening, live on Sky Sports. With a win, Rangers could close the gap to 13 points behind leaders Celtic, who managed a 3-3 draw with Dundee at Dens Park on Tuesday night.

Rangers’ manager Philippe Clement will be eager to continue his team’s strong home form as Aberdeen travels to Glasgow. Rangers have not lost a domestic match at Ibrox this season.

The future of the bill in the Senate is uncertain, but even if it fails to pass Congress, former President Donald Trump promised during his campaign to use executive powers to enforce a ban.

Many people following the issue believe that his Education Department might argue that any school allowing transgender girls and women to compete would be violating Title IX, the law that bans sex discrimination in schools. Trump and others argue that transgender athletes have an unfair biological advantage, though some studies comparing transgender athletes to others show mixed results in terms of physical performance.

House Republican leaders quickly brought the bill to the House floor for a vote without first having committee discussions. “One of the most common sense bills that we’ve had is the bill that says men cannot play in women’s sports,” said House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana). “People don’t understand why it’s even an issue.”

Democrats, however, have criticized the bill, calling it harmful and impractical. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California) said the bill “does nothing to actually protect people” and could “hurt safety for women and girls.” He added that it was “demeaning” to propose gender checks on young children, calling it “pretty sick” for Republicans to focus on this issue when they had been talking about the economy.

Many voters, including some Democrats, share the GOP’s concerns about fairness in sports, giving Republicans a chance to push the bill forward. More than two dozen states have passed statewide bans, although some of these bans have been blocked by courts, and others do not cover college athletics.

Democrats, under pressure, have mostly avoided taking a strong stance on the issue. In 2023, they all opposed the sports bill, but this year, some may be more likely to support it. One person involved in the issue said that Democrats are “spooked” after the elections and that if enough Democrats in the House support the bill, some Senate Democrats may also vote for it.

However, they are unsure if the bill will pass the Senate, where it would need 60 votes to pass. This would require at least seven Democrats to join Republicans in voting for it.

During the 2024 campaign, Republicans spent heavily on advertisements that targeted transgender rights, particularly in sports. A report from the Washington Post found that Republicans spent more than $215 million on ads about transgender rights, with $111 million specifically mentioning sports.

These ads often featured images of Lia Thomas, a transgender woman who won an NCAA swimming championship, and Gabrielle Ludwig, a transgender athlete who played college basketball.

After the election, some Democrats blamed the issue of transgender athletes for their losses and hinted that they might support the GOP legislation. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Massachusetts), who opposed the transgender sports bill in 2023, said Democrats focus too much on avoiding offense.

He supports “reasonable restrictions” on transgender athletes in sports but believes the blanket ban is “too extreme.” He also said that Democrats have failed to discuss this issue seriously, leaving Republicans to set the agenda with bills like this one.

The Biden administration has also struggled with the issue. When the Education Department proposed new rules about how schools should handle sex discrimination, it excluded sports and planned to address it separately.

In 2023, the administration published a proposal that would have banned state bans but offered guidelines for schools to restrict transgender athletes in certain cases, particularly in competitive sports. However, the administration never finalized the proposal and withdrew it in December 2024.

The debate over transgender athletes has been fueled by high-profile cases, such as Thomas’ swimming victories and the success of transgender girls in track events in Connecticut, Oregon, and Washington. However, transgender athletes are still rare. NCAA President Charlie Baker recently told a Senate panel that fewer than 10 transgender athletes are currently competing in college sports.

In K-12 sports, data from states shows very few transgender athletes. In Mississippi, no transgender students were reported to be involved in sports, and in Florida, only two transgender girls have played girls’ sports over the last decade. In Utah, just one transgender girl was competing in sports as of 2022.

Ohio reported that seven transgender girls played sports during the 2023-2024 school year, but there were specific rules for their participation, including a requirement for hormone therapy and proof that they did not have physical advantages.

Imane Khelif, the most-Googled athlete of the year, found herself at the center of controversy at the Paris Olympics. Khelif, from Algeria, won the gold medal in boxing for her weight class, despite concerns about her gender eligibility.

Khelif had been disqualified from the 2023 International Boxing Association World Championships after IBA president Umar Kremlev claimed that she had “XY chromosomes,” which are typically linked to biological males.

However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) supported Khelif, as well as Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting, who also won a gold medal in another women’s weight class despite similar criticism.

The IOC stated, “These two athletes were the victims of a sudden and arbitrary decision by the IBA. Towards the end of the IBA World Championships in 2023, they were suddenly disqualified without any due process.”

Khelif went on to dominate in Paris, winning every round on her way to gold. In fact, one boxer, Angela Carini, even forfeited her match against Khelif, saying “one punch hurt too much.”

Caitlin Clark Roughs It During Historic Rookie Season

Caitlin Clark made history in her first season with the Indiana Fever, becoming a standout in women’s sports, especially women’s basketball.

However, her remarkable rookie season was not without its own controversy, particularly during a game when she was playing. Clark made national headlines after Chennedy Carter of the Chicago Sky fouled her hard on the court early in the season, which was called a Flagrant-1 foul.

This foul wasn’t a necessary physical move, so the foul call was made, but it sparked much more discussion in media and talk shows.

There was debate over whether players were being too rough with Clark, who had already experienced some tough fouls earlier in the season. Race also became a part of the conversation.

Clark continued to face physical challenges, including from fellow rookie Angel Reese, who hit her in the head during a layup attempt. However, both Reese and Clark later agreed that it was just an unfortunate moment in the game.

Brooke Fleming and SJSU Women’s Volleyball

Transgender athletes in women’s sports became a big topic of debate this year, and one case made national news when San Jose State’s women’s volleyball team was involved in controversy because of trans athlete Brooke Fleming.

The Spartans had several forfeits from opponents this season, and though it wasn’t directly stated, it seemed clear that many teams refused to play against Fleming.

There was also trouble within her own team. Team captain Brooke Slusser is part of two lawsuits that claim the university and Fleming worked to prevent her and other players from knowing that Fleming is biologically male. Slusser also joined a lawsuit against the NCAA over its policies on gender and allowing transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports.

Despite this, San Jose State continued to play against opponents until the Mountain West tournament. They received a bye for being the No. 2 seed. Boise State, which had forfeited earlier in the season, won against Utah State in the quarterfinals, setting up a semifinal match with SJSU.

However, Boise State forfeited again, giving SJSU a spot in the championship without ever playing a match. Colorado State, the No. 1 seed, went on to beat SJSU, 3-1, to win the title and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Jordan Chiles’ Bronze Medal

This summer was a big one for Team USA’s women’s gymnastics team, especially with Simone Biles becoming the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history. However, her teammate Jordan Chiles was at the center of controversy after being awarded the bronze medal in the individual floor exercise.

American coaches asked for a review of her score, which was changed and put her ahead of Romania’s Ana Barbosu, who ended up in fourth place instead of winning the medal.

But the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Chiles’ appeal had been submitted after the one-minute deadline, so her score was returned to its original number, and Barbosu was given the bronze. Chiles was ordered to give back the medal.

San Francisco’s first regular-season defeat since October 23 last year finally arrived. It was bound to happen eventually, but who could have foreseen that P.J. Walker would orchestrate that loss? In fairness, it was the Cleveland Browns’ defense that truly shone.

While Brock Purdy’s performance came down to earth with just 125 passing yards, he might not be the next Tom Brady, but he could very well be the best quarterback San Francisco has had in a while. Supported by a roster teeming with talent, including Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk, as well as a robust defense, the 49ers remain solid contenders, even if Week 6 revealed they are not invincible.

Miami Dolphins (5-1, 1st in AFC East)

Let us all applaud Mike McDaniel, the head coach who has transformed Hard Rock Stadium into a virtual dance club. Even when they fell behind 14-0 to the Carolina Panthers, the Dolphins staged a comeback, becoming only the fifth team in NFL history to win a game by 21+ points after trailing by 14 points in the first quarter.

There’s no need to convince anyone of Miami’s offensive prowess. With Tyreek Hill leading the NFL in receiving yards, Raheem Mostert leading in touchdowns, Tua Tagovailoa in the MVP conversation, and Jaylen Waddle’s contributions, their offense is a force. The key now is to stay healthy and maintain a strong defense, a task aided by the return of Jalen Ramsey and the guidance of Vic Fangio. Even after letting Miles Sanders go in the offseason, they maintain the NFL’s second-best rushing offense. Concerns may linger about their pass defense, but keep an eye on Howie Roseman during the trade deadline. The Eagles still soar in the NFC.

Baltimore Ravens (4-2, 1st in AFC North)

The Ravens earn my admiration despite not yet securing a statement win this season. Lamar Jackson is showcasing impressive passing skills, Zay Flowers is emerging as a young star, and Baltimore wields a top-five rushing attack, even without J.K. Dobbins. It’s essential to remember that the Ravens are adapting to a new offensive scheme, one that may flourish in the upcoming weeks.

What truly positions the Ravens as contenders is their formidable defense. They rank second in yards allowed per game through the first six weeks, and Roquan Smith is a bona fide standout. Baltimore has initiated a promising start in the AFC North, leaving us eagerly anticipating their continued journey.

Consider this remarkable statistic: Since Week 9 of the prior season, the Lions have posted an impressive 13-3 record. Only the 49ers (14-1) and Chiefs (14-2) have outshone them during this span. Notably, CBS Sports Senior NFL Writer Will Brinson declared on the Pick Six Podcast that had the Lions donned a different uniform, say that of the Dallas Cowboys, we would be touting them as one of the NFL’s elite teams.

My initial reluctance to anoint the Lions as contenders primarily stemmed from concerns about defensive injuries, particularly Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Emmanuel Moseley. Astonishingly, these setbacks have yet to hinder the Lions, who now claim the seventh-best defense after six weeks.

Jared Goff’s performance has been stellar, boasting a remarkable 13-3 record in his last 16 starts and an impressive 28-4 TD-INT ratio in those games. Additionally, the Lions possess an array of offensive talents, including the fantastic David Montgomery, the promising Jahmyr Gibbs, the elite Amon-Ra St. Brown at wide receiver, the standout rookie tight end Sam LaPorta, and the emerging deep threat Jameson Williams. The Lions unequivocally belong to the contender category.

Turning our attention to the Buffalo Bills, my faith in their standing remains somewhat unsteady. This skepticism isn’t solely due to their struggles against Tyrod Taylor and the New York Giants. What truly concerns me are the substantial losses on defense, specifically Tre’Davious White and Matt Milano, with both potentially sidelined for the entire season. Nevertheless, the Bills’ offense, when operating at peak performance, can hold its own against any opponent, thanks in large part to the extraordinary talents of quarterback Josh Allen.

While the Bills appear likely to secure a playoff berth, their early-season inconsistency tempers grand pronouncements about their future. Nonetheless, Josh Allen’s consistent record of 11-win seasons over the last three years warrants extending the benefit of the doubt to Buffalo.

As for the Dallas Cowboys, they managed to secure a narrow victory against the Los Angeles Chargers on a Monday night, a testament to their resilience. Nonetheless, puzzling decisions by head coach Mike McCarthy, such as delaying a timeout in the late second quarter, persist. Four games into the 2023 season and just a single victory are not good signs for any team, and the Giants now face immense pressure to turn their season around.

The decision of the management to extend the contract of Daniel Jones is now under immense scrutiny.

General Manager Joe Schoen placed his bets on Jones’s coming through after his performance in the 2022 season, ensuring the quarterback signs a massive 160 million dollar, four-year deal.

Jones had a breakthrough in 2022, but his performances so far into the 2023 season have flattered to deceive viewers.

In his breakthrough season last year, Jones threw for a career-high 3,205 yards with a career-low five interceptions. However, when compared against league averages, his performances were less impressive.

He ranked 15th in passing yards, tied for 23rd in yards per attempt (6.8), and tied for 27th in yards per completion (10.1). His success rate of 45.7% placed him 16th in the league.

Four games into the season, Jones’s play has been questionable, to say the least. He is also not helped by the fact that the offensive lines of the Giants have failed to impress as well.

In their 24-3 loss against the Seahawks, Jones was sacked 11 times, almost breaking the NFL single-game record.

Seahawks rookie Devon Witherspoon piled on to the problems faced by the Giants quarterback with a 98-yard pick-six.

While Jones and the Giants had an incredible Week 2 with a comeback victory against the Cardinals, the rest of their season has been far from impressive.

Jones Fails To Impress

Jones has thrown for just 506 yards, with an average of 4.5 yards per attempt, zero touchdowns, and having been intercepted six times.

Jones has struggled to push the ball downfield, and he has thrown just 11 passes of 10 air yards or further before their game against the Seahawks in Week 4.

The Giant’s offensive line is also responsible for the issues faced by Jones, with them allowing him to be sacked 23 times in four games this season, putting them behind the Commanders for most sacks faced in the league so far.

Having signed a massive contract extension, Jones now faces critique from fans and critics alike, with many looking to him to be more of a difference maker if the Giants hope to mount any sort of a comeback to their season.

GM Schoen will also be brought under the scanner if he fails to bring in players who can bring the best out of Jones and support him better.

Andrew Thomas Saquon Barkley is considered to be untouchable, with the rest of the roster not up to par.

When you get a grade one, which is just one of your lower grades, the ATFL is injured as it gets more and more severe as you twist in more, and that energy increases the injury. This ligament here is called the CFL ligament, and then if you roll it even more, you injure this ligament here called the PTFL ligament.

How the injury can affect an athletes

This ligament, in consequence, can be injured with increasing severity. Sometimes, people will twist and then rotate their foot outwards. That’s called an eternal rotation moment to their ankle sprain.

That is the mechanism by which you get a high ankle sprain, which is injuring this ligament here, which ends up a little bit higher than your ankle. Hence the high ankle sprain, and there’s another type of ankle sprain where you do what’s called an eversion injury.

It’s where your foot rolls outwards, and your ankle kind of rolls that eversion injury can damage a ligament called the deltoid ligament. Now, we’re going through all this because we know from at least what we’re being told from the staff for the charges that Echo does not have a high ankle sprain.

So if that is true, let’s mark that off and say okay, it does not have a high ankle sprain. We don’t know what type of ankle sprain he does, a lateral or outer ankle sprain, which is why you saw with the ATFL, CFL, and PTFL.

Or it is an e-version ankle sprain or medial ankle sprain, which is where the deltoid ligament is injured, and sometimes people can have both sides, the inner and outer side of the ligaments, sprained. Now, the matter is he cannot return after one week of this injury.

Just like other running backs, Taylor’s contribution in running the ball relies on the attacking strategy and the quality of the attacking line. 3 years and counting, his highest reception count in a single season is 40. It was the 2020 season, where he showed a strong desire for reception, with 1.47 yards per run.  In 2022, the same dropped to a mere 0.56, sitting rock-bottom in the league in this domain.

There are no doubts about Taylor’s capabilities. He holds an arsenal of technical skills among the running backs in the NFL. However, he is not the profile that the Rams actually need right now. Rams lack pressing in their play, especially in the attacking lines and edge rusher position.

Taking into account the problems that the Rams face, Jonathan Taylor’s arrival does not seem to be a Black and White solution.

Every opportunity I get to go out there and play, I’m going to have fun. I’m going to play my hardest and just thank God for giving me the ability to play. So, no matter what the scoreboard is, I will keep to the same mindset and just push and keep moving forward.”

Sunday’s home fixture against the 0-3 Broncos may be an opportunity for the Bears to turn things around in their favor, although even coming off a 70-20 loss, the Broncos are still favored by 3.5 points for the game in Chicago.
