Jürgen Klopp has revealed that one of Liverpool’s key players may be out for the remainder of the season amid the club’s ongoing injury crisis.

The Reds have been grappling with a slew of injuries across multiple fronts in recent weeks, with several notable players sidelined. The absence of stars like Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Núñez has posed significant challenges for the team.

Following the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo joined the injury list after leaving the stadium in protective boots.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Southampton, Klopp provided a somber update on Thiago’s condition, expressing uncertainty about his return.

“Yeah, there’s no timescale. I don’t know, to be honest. It’s a couple of things [that] he has to do now from a medical point of view, and then I don’t know if that will then mean that he can play again [this season],” Klopp remarked.

“That’s not a short-term thing, that’s why I’m not really in the subject. It’s not that he might be in training in two weeks or stuff like that, so that’s why I’m not 100 percent in it. I cannot say more about it, to be honest.”

Regarding young talent Bajcetic, Klopp noted his progress but mentioned that he has yet to receive clearance for team training.

“He’s gaining fitness now… he didn’t get a green light yet for us for the team training. He’s pain-free, completely pain-free, which is the most important thing. All checks we made, like scans again, bone looks good, that’s all fine, and he’s just doing the stuff he’s doing,” Klopp explained.

Speaking about the status of other injured players, Klopp added, “Darwin, Mo, we have to see what they can do today. Endo got a proper knock as well, so we have to see. I wouldn’t say it’s much improved, but that is how it is.”

Following their FA Cup tie, Liverpool will return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
