Chelsea Football Club is going through a tough phase right now. We are all aware of it, and there is no denying, that it is somewhere causing them to suffer a bit. They lost their owner, the Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich. After he left, the club was hit with sanctions by the British government. A number of things were not allowed to the club by the government. In the second half of the last season, in particular, the club hit a real low. We all remember what a terrific start to the season Chelsea made. For the initial two-three months, they were at the top of their game and in the league as well. All the players seemed to kick, they were coming into the season as the Champions League winners. All of this definitely adds to the confidence of the team.
So coming in as the European Champions, there was a lot of fire and aggression in the way they played. They performed really well, were able to give fights to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool. Nearly for the first half of the season stayed at the top of the league. But when Christmas came, untimely injuries happened, and they had a series of matches where they just drew. Then a few losses along the way, and ultimately they lost hold of the league. Chelsea, though, is always considered a strong team by everyone, they show that culture and their performances speak for themselves.
Let’s have a look at their current situation and what their future might look like.
Chelsea Football Club: How Is The Present Lineup?
Chelsea Football Club, for many years now, has always had a stunning lineup. They are able to attract the best players in the world to play for them. Chelsea does have a decent history, especially their recent, and the future looks tremendous. Their lineup has a nice call to it. Very decent to start with. After the departure of Rudiger to Madrid, Chelsea’s defense might look weak, but it still isn’t. Compared to many good clubs, Chelsea’s defense is strong. The likes of Thiago Silva, who is still going very strong at 37, soon to be 38. Marcus Alonso is still pretty solid alongside Trevoh Chelobah. Reece James and Ben Chilwell make up the full-back positions with the experience of Cesar Azpillicueta. Young player Malang Sarr is also in the lineup to provide a nice backup.
Talking about midfielders and strikers, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Kovacic, Ross Barkley, Mason Mount, and Reuben Loftus Cheek form the midfield. Lukaku, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Cristian Pulicic, Hudson-Odoi, and Hakim Ziyech are the forwards. All these players don’t sound average at all. They all are world-class players, and all together, Chelsea becomes a powerhouse of a team.
What to Expect In The Future?
What the future is never certain, but Chelsea is surely showing signs of bouncing back, as far as the management in the club is concerned. Even if some players leave the club in the summer, Chelsea should be able to handle the pressure in the upcoming season. And if players like Sterling and Raphinha join the team, Chelsea will definitely make the most out of it.
