The Las Vegas Raiders are poised to part ways with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Wednesday, as reported by The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. This decision follows shortly after the team acquires Gardner Minshew on a two-year deal and the recent release of Brian Hoyer.

Initially signed to a three-year, $67.5 million contract in March 2023, Garoppolo’s tenure as the franchise quarterback quickly faltered.

Struggling to find his rhythm, he was eventually replaced by Aidan O’Connell after a string of disappointing performances, culminating in his league-leading nine interceptions in just six games before being benched. His last throw for the franchise was an incomplete pass on January 7.

Throughout seven games, Garoppolo managed 1,205 yards and seven touchdowns but faced additional setbacks when he was suspended last month for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, resulting in him being sidelined for the first two games of the 2024 season.

With Las Vegas concluding the 2023 season with an 8–9 record, the team will now navigate the upcoming season with three quarterbacks on its roster: O’Connell, Hoyer, and Anthony Brown Jr., once Garoppolo’s departure is finalized.
