Reports suggest that veteran Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto could be on his way out at the end of the season.
At 32 years old, Roberto has amassed three goals and an assist in 14 appearances across various competitions this season, starting in only eight of those games. With his contract set to expire, it seems likely that the Spaniard may seek opportunities elsewhere to continue his career.
According to information from Barça Center, as cited by Matte Moretto, the reigning La Liga champions currently have no plans to extend Roberto’s contract.
However, no official communication has been conveyed to the player or his representatives at this point. Roberto has remained loyal to Barcelona throughout his career, having risen through the ranks of the club.
Since his debut in the 2010-11 season, he has contributed significantly, tallying 19 goals and 41 assists in 363 appearances across various competitions.
Over his decade-long tenure at Camp Nou, Roberto has been part of numerous title-winning campaigns, securing seven La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies, among other honors.
His most recent triumph with the club occurred last season in La Liga, marking the 22nd title of his illustrious career. However, under Xavi’s leadership, Barcelona has faced challenges in the current campaign, trailing Real Madrid by five points with a game in hand and only 12 matches remaining in the season.
