In 2004, Kurt Angle was one of the top superstars of WWE’s SmackDown franchise. But on the 4th of November of 2004, he went on to have an open challenge. Daniel Puder was the one who responded to his open challenge. Before Kurt Angle had made fun of Tough Enough contestants and Daniel Puder did not take it lightly. He went on-air to face Kurt Angle. In an unscripted moment, he locked Kurt Angle in a Kimura Lock. It was a legitimate lock, and he readily tried to break Kurt Angle’s arm. After the show went off-air, Kurt Angle was fuming over the incident, so did the WWE authorities. Daniel Puder was punished for this event.

During the incident, Jimmy Koderas, along with Charles Robinson, were the referees. They shared their experience on the ‘It’s My House’ podcast. According to them, the incident goes something like this, Kurt Angle called Daniel and started to demean him. At this, all the referees and officials exchanged their glances with each other, but could not figure out what to do. Jimmy Koderas was questioned about his decision, but there was nothing he could have done. After the fight broke out, Daniel Puder held Kurt Angle in the Kimura Lock.
