Wimbledon 2022 Day 9: Novak Vs Sinner, Who Will Come On Top?

Wimbledon 2022 Day 9 will be providing us with an excellent quarter-final clash between Novak Djokovic and J. Sinner. The Sinner has beaten the likes of Wawrinka, Isner, and Alcaraz to be in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. On the other hand, Novak had a relatively easy round of matches in his journey to the last eight. This will be a real test for Novak and probably the biggest of Sinner’s career. The fans are excited; we all are excited to see what will unfold today—a big congratulations to D. Goffin for making it through to the round of eight of Wimbledon. After a long time, Goffin has played consistently after a series of injuries that kept him out of the game.

He is against C.Norrie, who is the lone British survivor in the tournament. He has the hopes, prayers, and expectations of every British fan in the stadium and otherwise. Cameron is facing a veteran in the form of Goffin, who has been a part of many quarter-finals in the past. The contest proves to be close, and all the expectations are no Norrie to come out victorious. O. Jeabeur has been fantastic in the tournament and is going from strength to strength. She is the highest-seeded player remaining in this year’s competition and has her eyes on the trophy now.

Let’s take a look at these matches more clearly.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 9: Novak Vs Sinner, C.Norrie Has Home Advantage

Novak Djokovic has his last-eight match today against J.Sinner in Wimbledon 2022 Day 9. He is pursuing his 21st grand slam title, so he could be one closer to Rafel Nadal, who sits at the top with 22. This is his best chance to win a grand slam as now he looks the favorite to lift. Both Novak and Rafa are through to the quarter-finals, and if they win their respective matches, we will see them straight in the finals. But his opponent has been in sensational form. J.Sinner is the man to beat in the tournament. The Italian has already won the likes of Wawrinka, Isner, and Alcaraz. None of the matches against these players have gone to five sets, only the fourth but only time against Alcaraz.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 9 Novak vs Sinner

That shows how good he has been at beating some top players and playing top-level tennis. #10 seed, after a series of injuries, has found stability in his game which has now proved so beneficial. Sinner’s talent is undoubtedly one of the best among all the young players in the world. Novak Djokovic must surely be on his toes to battle it out today. It is going to be a tough one out there.

C.Norrie And The Home Crowd

Cameron Norrie Vs D. Goffin

C.Norrie is the only British player left in Wimbledon. He has loads of expectations from the entire country as he faces his last-eight match against D.Goffin, the Belgian veteran. After a long time, D.Goffin has made it so far into a grand slam. He has all the experience in the world of being in such matches and such tense situations. Today all the hopes and prays will have the most extensive test, as the last man standing Brit will try to make history today.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 5: What To Expect

Wimbledon 2022 Day 5 is starting with a lot of hype after a disappointing day 3 for the British fans. Cameron Norrie, the highest-seeded British player, has all the eyeballs now. He is #9 in this year’s Wimbledon and has managed to go through to round 3. In a very sad round 2, Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu bid their farewell as they lost their respective matches. Novak Djokovic marched to round 3 and will face his opponent today. Alcaraz, who looked in fine touch in the second round, is also playing today. #3 Tunisian O. Jabeur, who has shown a tremendous display of tennis so far, is also walking the courts today. She is against D. Perry of France. #5 M. Sakkari is playing too, as well as #15 A. Kerber.

Novak will be playing his fellow countryman #25 Miomir Kecmanović. It will be an interesting match as the latter is in fine form and could prove to be a worthy opponent for Novak. After this win, Novak would be through to the last 16, almost ready to be in the second week of the tournament. This could be Alcaraz’s toughest challenge thus far as he faces #32 Otte in the third round. Otte has been playing some brilliant tennis off late and could prove to be a real test for the Spaniard. All in all, day 5 looks very promising as the fans get ready to witness the greatness.

Let’s have a look at the upcoming highlighted matches.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 5: Novak’s Bid For Round Of 16 And Alcaraz’s Big Test

Novak Djokovic’s quest to achieve his 21st grand slam will be going through the third-round test in Wimbledon 2022, day 5. His national team, part Miomir Kecmanović is put up against him this time. This should go Novak’s way, but he can’t be complacent. The way he played in the second round was far better than how he played in the first. If he plays the same way he played in the third, then there are very low chances of someone defeating him. His Serb opponent is #25 in this tournament, not a bad ranking. It can be a great test for Djokovic in the third round. The fans expect Djokovic to win, but they do want a good competition. Hopefully, both the players provide a great round of entertainment for the spectators.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 5
Wimbledon 2022 Day 5

Carlos Alcaraz has looked on and off in the tournament so far. His first-round match was a five-set thriller where he managed a narrow win. The second round was completely the opposite. He crushed his opponent in straight sets. Looks like the young sensation has gained some confidence on this surface. Round 3 would be his biggest challenge so far, as #32 Otte has been playing some good tennis. It could prove to be a great contest for everyone to witness. Highly anticipate this match.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 5 Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz

It is Sinner Vs Isner

Italian Vs An American. The first sent Wawrinka home, and the second sent the home favorite Murray home. J. Sinner was completely forgotten because all the limelight was on Matteo Berrettini, who unfortunately is out because of Covid. Sinner is also #10 in the tournament, and he looks sensational right now. Isner, on the other hand has always been a tough grasscourt player to beat. It will be an interesting matchup to see who comes out on top.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 3: Matches To Look Forward To

Wimbledon 2022 Day 3 is another exciting day to look forward to. After an amazing display of tennis on Day 1 and Day 2, the fans are expecting nothing less than spectacular. Day 1 saw a lot of matches going down the final five sets. Carlos Alcaraz was involved in one of the matches. He survived the match by winning it in the final set. Unfortunately for Hurkacz, it was the end of the road in round 1. He tried his best, fought till the end, but lost the match in five sets. As for Djokovic, he found himself in a little bit of trouble in the second set, lost it to the South Korean but bounced back immediately to win the match. Emma, Andy, and Norrie won their respective matches, keeping the Brits alive.

Day 2 started off with Iga Swiatek’s dominant performance. World no 1 cruised to the second round of Wimbledon. Rafael Nadal was up next, and he did give all of us a little scare. He was two sets up when he suddenly lost the third and was trailing in the fourth as well. But he dug in deep and managed to make a small comeback, winning the game in four sets. Serena Williams could not a dream back. In a three-set encounter, she lost the match by a whisker. Fans were left disappointed. Kyrgios’s match was the most entertaining. It went to the final set, and Kyrgios emerged victorious. Other top-seeded players managed to win their matches as well.

This makes for an interesting Day 3 at Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 3: Novak Faces A Tough Aussie, Ruud Vs Humbert, And Alcaraz Faces A Dutch Opponent

Novak Djokovic, the defending champ, is set to face a tough Aussie in the form of Kokkinakis. This player is really powerful, has great first serve, and can damage opponents with his powerful strokes. It will be interesting to see if Novak finds it easy against such an opponent or if there is a surprise for us in store. Casper Ruud, the #3 seed in the tournament, is against the French Humbert. Not a lot is known about the French player, considering he is very young. But he has made it to the second round, which definitely means the kid is a great talent. Ruud must be at his best to see this game off, otherwise, he could be in for a big night.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 3 Novak Djokovic
Novak

Carlos Alcaraz cannot play the same way he played in the first round. He was below par or he still has not adjusted to the grass-court conditions. The Dutch player Tallon Greikspoor seems a very formidable opponent. Alcaraz must not lose his focus so as to have a great match.

The Brits Must March Along

Andy Murray, Emma Raducanu, and C. Norrie will be playing their matches today on day 3. Out of the three, Andy has probably the toughest match. He is against the tall American, John Isner, also considered a specialist in grass court. He has huge serves and a very good first-serve percentage. Andy has to wriggle through the American’s serve to have any chance of winning the match. Emma is up against C. Garcia. This should be a fairly easy round for Emma, the way she performed in the first round against a tricky opponent, she should be able to go past this round with ease. Norrie is the highest-seeded British, and he is against the Spanish J. Munar. The kind of form he is in, Norrie should win the match without being complacent.

These are today’s matches to look forward to for Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 1: Novak Starts Slow, Emma And Murray Fight It Out, Hurkazc Crashes

Wimbledon 2022, Day 1 offered all of us a lot of exciting matches and much to look forward to. It showed players who are still finding their rhythm and trying to work it out. A major upset came on day 1 as Hubert Hurkazc crashes out in five sets. It was really an intense game, and he showed his fighting spirit but to no avail. On other fronts, #1 seed Novak Djokovic found his feet despite losing one set in the course of his victory. His opponent, the South Korean S. Kwon, showed great spirit and even managed to win a set. His forehand, in particular, was causing great problems for Djokovic, who had to find different variations in his game to find a winning combination.

As far as the Britain contingent is concerned, Emma, Andy, and Norrie won their first-round matches. Emma and Norrie, in particular, won in straight sets while Murray gave the audience a moment of tension. He lost the first set and didn’t look too comfortable on the grass at Centre Court. But slowly, he found his rhythm and ended the match in four sets. In other matches #2 seed O. Jabeur won the match against her Swedish opponent quite comfortably. #3 seed A. Kontaviet also raced through to the second round.

Let us have a closer look at the highlighted matches from Wimbledon 2022 Day 1.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 1: Novak Djokovic Loses A Set But Enters Round 2, Emma Faces Belgian Force, And Comeback Andy

The Centre Court was again filled with fans who came to have a spectacle. Novak Djokovic started the match in the main court as the #1 seed. Overall, the matches were a bit affected because of the rain and got delayed a bit. The Serbian was again the South Korean S. Kwon, and both of them started off hitting nice winners. The Korean was performing better than everyone expected him to, and it was a great sign for the game, especially in round 1. Djokovic managed to win the first set with not too much difficulty, but his opponent bounced back. Kwon broke Djokovic’s serve and won the second set. His forehands and backhands looked really crisp and sharp and put Novak in trouble. But as the story went on, Novak stuck to his basics and took out the third and the fourth set. He won the game 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Emma Raducanu faced the tricky Belgian and world number 47 A. Van. Uytvanck in round 1. It was not an easy game for Emma as she had to battle it out for each point. She broke her serve late in the first set and won it 6-4. The score of the second set was the same even though Emma got the break early. She won the match 6-4, 6-4. Andy Murray was back in the Centre Court after a long time, and the fans were thrilled to see him back. He was against the Australian J. Duckworth, who started off brilliantly, winning the first set. But then Andy, like so many times in the past, dug deep, found his play, and won the remaining sets quite comfortably. He won the match 4-6, 3-6, 2-6, 4-6.

C. Norrie, the #10 seed at Wimbledon, won his game in straight sets.

Big Upset As Hurkacz Crashes Out

Wimbledon always gives us upsets, and this time it happened in the form of Hurkacz. The top Polish player and #5 seed crashed out in five sets. The rain delay maybe helped him make a comeback in the match, but he couldn’t finish it off. It was a very intense game and started off poorly for him. He lost the first two sets, and then a rain delay happened. He came back and won the two sets back-to-back, taking it to the fifth set. In a highly encountered fifth set, he lost 7-6( 10-8) in a tie-breaker.

Alcaraz had a scary start to the season though he won the first round. He was taken to the fifth set by a very focused opponent, the German J. Struff. The upcoming days look terrific for the tournament, and day 1 has already given us glimpses of it.

Andy Murray And His Mega Comeback: Life, Earnings and Net Worth

Andy Murray is an inspiration to many if they want to achieve something big in life. A brilliant professional and also an amazing human being, his life has been fruitful. Regarded as one of the best tennis players in his prime, Andy Murray is a three-time grand slam winner. He has won Wimbledon twice 2013,2016, and US Open in 2012. He is the tennis player to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals. In 2012 at London Olympics and in 2016 at Rio Olympics. For a long time, he was a major part of the fab four of tennis. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and himself. His ability to hit low error shots and his transition from defense to offense has been the hallmark of his game.

At the age of 19, Murray had placed himself in the top 10 of the ATP rankings. While that era was being dominated by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, he along with Novak cemented their place as well. After losing four finals, Murray finally managed to win his first grand slam final against Novak at the US Open in 2012. Despite not winning as many grand slams as his contemporaries, Andy Murray is still considered a tough nut to crack by them. Moreover,  Andy Murray along with the big three has given us so many memorable matches that are just incredible. Unbelievable to say the least.

Andy Murray is originally Scottish and represents Great Britain as a nation. Born on 15 May 1987, Murray started playing tennis at a very early age. Only at age 15, Andy with his mother Judy and elder brother Jamie moved to Barcelona to train at Sánchez-Casal Academy. When he turned pro, Andy showed his class and soon started to rise in the rankings. Since Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were always in the limelight, it sometimes became tough for other players to shine. But this was not the case with Andy nor with Novak. They both performed brilliantly and in a short span of time became the top breed. From there on, the top 4 emerged. It continued for many years and a number of grand slams were shared between the four of them.

Novak Djokovic: Is He The Bad Guy? Life, Net Worth And More

Why is Novak Djokovic the bad guy of tennis? Is he really a bad guy? Or is it just an assumption? Sure we have seen many moments where he has lost his temper or smashed his racket quite a few times. But does that really make him the bad guy? He is a sportsman and arguably one of the best to ever play tennis. At his best, he has been unbeatable, no matter the surface. Even when he has lost, he has shown great sportsmanship to the winners and embraced them with warmth and humility. To label him as the bad guy seems unfair just because he is in the same league as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Those two have always been or acted as gentlemen in the game. Their persona and attitude towards their work have been top-notch, and their anger management is worthy of praise.

Maybe, being compared to them just in terms of behavior has cost Novak to be the bad guy. The incident in the US Open caused outrage among the fans. He accidentally hit the line lady while giving the ball back to the ball boy. In his anger, he hit the ball hard behind him, which straight hit the lady. On top of that, the lady was not young, and she straight fell to the ground. This resulted in straight eviction for Novak from the US Open. Of course, such sort of incidents creates a negative image even if the player is one of the best in the sport. Djokovic, in recent times, has had to pay a heavy price in terms of hate and negativity from fans inside the court and on social media.

Take a deeper look at the life of Novak Djokovic, a great tennis player and an amazing human being.

Novak Djokovic- Life

Novak Djokovic was born in 1987 in Serbia. As a child, he was into tennis and started playing at a very young age. He holds two records as a tennis player. He has 20 grand slam titles to his name, joint with Roger Federer, only behind Rafael Nadal, who sits at the top with 22 titles. He also has the most number of ATP titles, 37, one more than Rafa. Apart from all these achievements, he actively takes part in all the charity events held in tennis tournaments.

Wimbledon 2022 Draws Are Out: What Are The Potential Clashes?

Wimbledon 2022 draws are out, and predictions have started flowing in. Everyone is busy using their minds to set up potential clashes and predict their own winners. Even the number of sets, where the match will end, or the exact score of the sets are being discussed. But what better promotions for a tournament than this. The draws were held today at 10 am GMT, and there are some interesting matchups in the first round. From Britain’s point of view, Emma Raducanu will be up against  Alison van Uytvanck from Belgium. A very tricky opponent who knows how to send great players home in early rounds. She defeated Garbine Muguruza, the 2018 Wimbledon Champion, in an early round. Alsion is world no 47, so in no way she should be taken lightly.

Luckily for Emma, she was at the bottom end of the draw, so she would avoid facing Iga Swiatek until the final. Our long race horse, unseeded Andy Murray, will be facing James Duckworth of Australia. If he wins his first round, he will face Enzo Couacaud or John Isner in round two. As far as the comeback queen is concerned, Serena Williams will be up against world No 113 Harmony Tan. Serena is making her appearance after 2019, and it will great to see her back on the grass. Rafael Nadal has to face Francisco Cerundolo while Novak Djokovic plays world No 75 Soonwoo Kwon. If all goes well for both of them, then they are sure to face each other straight in the final.

Wimbledon 2022 Draws: Novak Djokovic Vs Alcaraz In The Quarter-Final

Wimbledon 2022 Draws are here, and speculations have already begun. Carlos Alcaraz will face Jan-Lennard Struff in round one. Speaking about his chances on grass, Alcaraz said, “I don’t think this year it’s going to be my surface,”. “For sure, in the future, I can play pretty good on this surface if I play tournaments before Wimbledon, and I think I will feel comfortable playing on this surface.”. He has kept it low saying all this, but his potential has no limits. If all goes well for him in the first four rounds, it is likely he will be up against Novak Djokovic. That is one round nobody wants to miss, and everyone hopes it happens.

Novak vs Alcaraz QF Wimbledon 2022 Draw
Novak Djokovic Vs Alcaraz

Rafael Nadal, Matteo Berrettini

For both the players to set up a clash against each other, they will have to make it to the semis. Before that, there is no chance of them playing each other. In the kind of form Berrettini is in, it would be extremely difficult for Rafa to win his third consecutive slam of the year. Matteo is a great grass-court player, this will definitely be a great contest.

Wimbledon 2022 Draws- Rafael Nadal Vs Matteo Berrettini
Matteo Berrettini and Rafael Nadal,

Even though the chances are really slim, but if Andy Murray wins, he will be up against Novak in the quarters. That means he would have to beat Alcaraz before that, and if he beats Novak, then Rafa would be waiting for him in the final or Matteo. This would be nothing less than a fairytale for Murray.

World no 1 Iga Swiatek has a fairly easy first-round matchup. Her opponent is a qualifier, Jana Fett.

For more than 15 years running, the GOATs in Tennis are Rafael  Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. Top 5 Matches: Match 5- Novak Djokovic Vs Roger Federer 2019 Wimbledon

This is the longest Wimbledon final, beating 2008 final and making my list at no 4 in the top 5 matches ever played. Federer was looking for his ninth Wimbledon title and did not want a repeat of his losses in 2014 and 2015 Wimbledon. The match all the way looked equal, and both of them had their fair share of winners and unforced errors. The first went to Nole, who won it 7-6. In the second set, Roger came back and showed his class, absolutely pure class. He won the second set comfortably 1-6. The third was again a long and hard-fought set. So many brilliant and beautiful rallies, amazing winners, volleys, and lobs.

Djokovic again came on top and narrowly won the set 7-6. This game was completely going back and forth. The fourth set was a display of Roger’s ability to come back. He stayed in the rallies and, point by point, managed to take the fourth, 4-6. The fifth set, easily the longest set, had everything the audience wished for. Drama, passion, fame, respect, just everything. It took a score of  13-12 for Djokovic to come out victorious. Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6, 4-6, 13-12.

Match 4: Novak Djokovic Vs Rafael Nadal 2012 Australian Open Final- Top 5 Tennis Matches

The longest grand slam final match in its history, the 2012 Australian Open Final between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal ranks no 3 in the list of top 5 tennis matches ever. This match was so physically exhausting for the players that they were not able to stand during the post-match ceremony. In the first set, as usual, both players show their best shots to each other, matching shot by shot. Rafa took the first set 5-7. Novak bounces back and, in a convincing fashion, takes the second set 6-4.

The third follows a similar story, and Novak, with an upper hand, took the third, 6-2. Rafa, as always, is a fighter, who doesn’t know when to give up, and fights hard in the third. Long rallies, covering a lot of distance for each point, were sure a  treat to watch. However, Nadal, like on many other occasions, manages to step and win the set 6-7. This makes for an epic fifth set. The fifth set, in hindsight, is really tough for Nadal’s fans to digest. He was 2-4 up in the final set but somehow loses his serve. From there on, Rafa was not able to recover and loses the set 7-5. After 5 hours and 53 minutes, Novak Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5.

Match 3: Roger Federer Vs Rafael Nadal 2009 Australian Open

After the 2008 Wimbledon final, the duo meets again in the 2009 Australian Open final. Having already beaten Roger on the grass, Rafa looked to be the man to beat Roger again, but this time on hard court. Rafael Nadal takes a tough first set 5-7. Roger comes back in the second to win it 6-2. The third set is a very tough one, but Rafa edges it and wins 6-7. Roger again comes back and convincingly wins the set 6-3. The final set showed Rafa’s dominance, and he took home the set 2-6. 2009 Australian Open final, Roger Federer lost to Rafael Nadal, 5-7, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 2-6.

Match 2: Rafael Nadal Vs Novak Djokovic 2013 French Open Semi-Final

2013 was probably one of Nadal’s best years in terms of what he achieved on the court. Novak Djokovic was world no 1 at that time and was dominating the majority of tournaments. But French Open was one thing where he always felt short. He was in prime condition and had performed really well against Rafa on clay prior to French Open. That final was the closest, Novak managed to beat Rafa in the French Open final. The match lasted for 4 hours and 37 minutes. In the first set, Rafa kept it intact and won the first set 6-4. In the second, Novak showed his world no 1 class and won the set 3-6. The third was clear cut on Rafa’s side as he took it 6-1. The fourth was a very hard-fought game, and again Djokovic showed his class and came back to take the set 6-7. Fifth was a major deciding factor as it was no less than a roller coaster ride for both the players. With a lot of ups and downs, sometimes Rafa or sometimes Djoko, it was Rafa in the end who took away the set 9-7. After such extraordinary efforts by both the men, Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7.

Match 1- Roger Federer Vs Rafael Nadal 2008 Wimbledon

Arguably the best match in the history of Tennis ranks no 1 in the list of top 5 matches ever played. 2008 Wimbledon was the start of Rafael Nadal’s career as an all-around player, especially a grasscourt player. Before this, he tried his best against Roger but was able to surpass his supreme grass play. Both in 2006 and 2007, Rafa reached the final of Wimbledon but lost to Roger. 2008 final was the resurgence for Rafa as he managed to beat Roger for the first time on grasscourt. The 4-hour 48 minutes match saw probably the best set of Tennis to be ever played. Many experts and ex-players believe so, and if you watch the match again on Youtube, you will also believe that. The match started off as equal as possible, and improved Rafa was seen as opposed to the previous finals. He gave Roger a tough fight, every point was hard-fought, and in the ninth game, Rafa managed to break his serve. He won the set 6-4.

The second set followed a similar story, and Rafa won the set again, 6-4. An amazing turn of events was to take place. As close as the match was, it was anybody’s game to win, and Roger displayed why he is a class apart. Under pressure to win and make a comeback, Federer won the third set in a tiebreak, taking the set 6-7. The fourth set followed a similar story where everything seemed equal. 1-2 down, Roger again managed to win the set in the tiebreak, 6-7 the score. Down to the final set, momentum had completely gone to Roger, and things looked ugly for Rafa. Famous for his mental strength, Rafa did not give up. The set continued with some amazing rallies along the way. However, none of them wanted to lose. It was in the very end that Rafa managed to break Roger at 7-7. The score was 8-7, and on his serve, he finished off the match, winning the set 9-7. Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7.

Wimbledon 2022- Players In And Out

There are a number of appearances that will be coming back after a break, for which we all are extremely excited. Roger Federer for sure, Berettinni as well. Murray recently had an injury at Queen’s so it is not sure whether he will be fit in the time but it will be great to see the Brit back in action. The ban of Russian and Belarussian players due to the ongoing conflict is a shame. We won’t see current World No 1 Medvedev trying his luck on the grass court nor we will see the ever-fiery Rublev. Belarussian No 1, and former World  No 1 Victoria Azarenka will be missed as well. Even though she appealed to the WTA community against the ban, it is still in place. But with whatever we have, let’s see what all those players can bring to the table.

Roger Federer- Out

The Swiss Maestro, the legend, the player who has won this tournament more than any other in the history of tennis is yet to come back. After a long break and not participating in the clay season at all, Federer is still not there yet. Over 40 now, Federer is still not ready to leave the game considering that now Rafa is 2 grand slams ahead. There must be a fire in his belly to come back and leave a mark as soon as possible. People love Roger, we all do and Wimbledon without him seems incomplete. Recently, he stated that he will likely be fully fit by September 2022. His fitness is going to be a question, he has been out of the game for a long time now. We all hope that like always he proves us wrong and comes back stronger.

Matteo Berrettini- In

The young superstar Italian is making a comeback after a few months of injury. He announced his return by winning the grass-court final against Andy Murray in style. There are a lot of expectations from him as he is a strong grass-court player. He has all the qualities to win a grand slam, so it will be important for him to perform well and prove his worth.

Rafael Nadal- Maybe

After winning his 14th French Open title earlier this month, Rafael Nadal is in doubt if he could make it to Wimbledon. He carried a  nasty foot injury during the entire Roland Garros. If it was not for his doctor, he wouldn’t have played the clay tournament at all. He was constantly given pain-numbing injections which caused his foot to feel no pain. But according to Rafa this cannot continue for a long time and needs a solution. It is now up to the coming days to see how the condition of Rafa’s foot is. If it is fine, then Wimbledon is not a tournament he would want to miss.

Novak Djokovic- In

The current Wimbledon champ will look to continue his streak in London and come one step closer to Rafa. Presently, Nadal is 2 grand slams ahead of Novak. Last year, they both were at 20. After winning both the Australian Open and the French Open this year, Nadal is now two steps ahead. This is clearly a motivation for Novak, considering the availability concerns of Rafa this Wimbledon. He is surely the clear favorite to win this tournament if Rafa is unavailable. Otherwise, someone from the young lot has to cause an upset.

Alexander Zverev- Out

In the semi-final of the French Open against Nadal, Alexander took one of the scariest injuries ever seen on a tennis court. The way he screamed just said it all. His ankle twisted so badly while chasing the ball, that it was hard to see. He had ruled himself out of the match, and Rafa automatically qualified for the finals. But one thing was sure Sasha was playing probably his best tennis and what a time to get injured. Talk about bad luck!

Wawrinka- In

His recent run of form is always a happy sign for tennis lovers. When he is in form, he can and has beaten the best of the best. We will love when Wawrinka hits those backhands down the line, down the memory lane. Isn’t it?

Iga Swiatek- In

The Polish prodigy seems to be unstoppable. Her recent run or months of the run has been unmatched. She has not lost a single match for months now and it seems that Wimbledon is her next target. Her focus and intensity in the match are something others can’t be on par with. Will there be someone, to be able to take her out?

Emma Raducanu- In

A superstar in the making, Raducanu, at only 19 years of age is British No 1 and hopes to make it big at this year’s Wimbledon. Suffering from a side strain earlier, she has had no match practice at all leading to Wimbledon. Emma and her team are yet to decide whether they will participate in a grass-court tournament prior to Wimbledon. For that, they have to apply for wild card entry, or else Emma straight goes to Wimbledon without practice. At her best though, she has a solid chance to beat Swiatek.

Alcaraz- In

The Spanish sensation, who took the tennis community by storm is ready to try his luck at Wimbledon. Even though he is great on hard courts and on clay, the grass is something he has not been tested on. His recent tournaments have gone great for him but there are some questions regarding his performances in grand slams which he would like to break. He can be a force to be reckoned with and can cause serious threats to the likes of Djokovic and Nadal.  An interesting prospect with an interesting future.

Alcaraz

For the first time in Wimbledon history, #1 and #2 are not participating in Men’s category. Medvedev for obvious reasons and Alexander Zverev for his horrific injury, both are out of this competition. We wish to see both of them in Wimbledon next year, hopefully.
